sever me
let me bleed
take the things i do not need
and peel away this dark facade
that takes no heed to a God
rest assured
when i split
you will see the awful bits
but they will go
and they will fade
as colors flood the empty space
for deep inside
is something more
than this leaking from my pores
a truth of light and truth of self
grown beneath this awful shell
for to birth
i must kill
the part of me that fights my will
and with this husk of body shed
i will rise anew again

Husk of Body is a suggestion that change is the eternal rupturing of dead outer skin in order to become more than we were before. It is a powerful resurrection that happens every day, perhaps going unnoticed by many but unaffected by none.
