By Madison Banfield
I went to the memorial.
I remember
Reflection
Names Names Names Names
I remember
Wall
Unknown bodies bodies bodies
But most of
All, I remember
Baseball cap
Stairs stairs stairs stairs gone
I remember
He went in
Again and again
People came out
Again and again
But eventually
People came out
He didn’t
But there’s
His Baseball cap
Madison Banfield, among many other things, finds herself with these labels: Author, Artist, and Student. Someday she hopes to replace Student with Attorney (and that trio of labels will be much more satisfying to read when that day arrives). Madison grew up in Arizona among the cacti and summer thunderstorms. She is fascinated with color, relishes in the feel of old paper beneath her fingers, and flourishes in the sunshine. She served as a Spanish-speaking missionary in the Washington Vancouver Mission and now studies psychology and art at BYU.
