Diversey Avenue
is the home of the Purple House.
The rain stained path to the cork collecting company
that lived in a dripping sink.

Diversey Avenue
     is the devil’s macaroni.
The parallel-less street of misfit beauty parlors
painting drunken fingernails for sport.

Diversey Avenue
     is simply a stop.
The Brown Line of the newly inclined,
a stone’s toss from ambition’s skyline.
